Background

After graduation from Northeastern Oklahoma State University, Kathy Hewitt opened a small tax practice out of her home. Today the firm employs several full and part time staffers and is well known in the community.

Community service had been a large part of the firm’s success. Kathy is the former mayor of Muskogee and has been involved with many volunteer organizations. Her son, Mike Hewitt joined the firm after graduation from the University of Oklahoma. Mike is also actively involved in the community.

In 2013 Mike became a non-CPA partner in the firm.

The firm prides itself on its level of service to its clients. We do more than simply prepare tax returns. We make every effort to look at each client’s entire financial picture. This is the true role of a Certified Public Accountant and the firm takes this quite seriously. This level of service is not often found in the firms and national franchises that only prepare tax returns and close their doors after April 15th.

Continuing education is a requirement of maintaining certification as a Certified Public Accountant. Each year, CPA’s must complete 40 hours of CPE in order to maintain their license. Additionally, once every three years, the firm undergoes a peer review by another CPA firm. The purpose of the peer review is to maintain a standard of excellence in the profession, to network with the review firm and to isolate areas of improvement. The firm maintains memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants.
